It was a strange lead up to the national championship game for eventual winner Alabama. According to WSB-TV in Atlanta, Crimson Tide defensive line coach Karl Dunbar had his playbook stolen 2 days before they beat Georgia at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It was taken at the Marriott Marquis. A suspect was caught on video grabbing a bag that contained the playbook and other personal items, but has not been identified.
Alabama defeated Georgia 26-23 in overtime to take the 2017 college football championship game.
