Military Father Surprises His Son Prior To Clemson Football Game

When U.S. Army Captain Cody Lucas left for Afghanistan nine months ago, his son Ty was still in high school and had his eyes set on playing football for the Clemson Tigers. Ty made it to Clemson and was preparing for a game against Duke on a night in which the Tigers were honoring members of the military.

The school invited a special guest to Clemson Memorial Stadium and surprised their freshman running back before the game. Ty was walking off the field following warmups when he saw his father waiting for him by the tunnel heading toward the locker room. He broke down in tears as the two shared a long embrace.

“It was a huge surprise,” Ty said before taking the field. “The best thing ever. I was not expecting it at all.”

The Tigers would go on to defeat Duke 35-6 on a night that Ty and his father will never forget.
