Homeless Man Gets Playoff Tickets For Helping Chiefs Player Stuck In Snow

A snowstorm dropped nearly ten inches of snow on Kansas City ahead of the Chiefs divisional playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday. The winter weather made getting to Arrowhead Stadium difficult and almost prevented one of the Chiefs players from arriving on time.

Backup guard Jeff Allen was driving to the stadium when he got stuck in the snow. Luckily for Allen, a Good Samaritan with a pick-up truck happened to see him and was able to help get him back on the road. After the game, Allen wanted to reward the person who helped, but only knew his first name and the type of truck he had. Allen shared the story on Twitter and asked for help locating the person.

My car got stuck in the snow before the game & a nice guy named Dave help pull me out without knowing I was a player. I want to give him tickets to the AFC championship game for helping but don’t have a way to contact him. He drove a 97 or 98 Black Suburban. Pls RT #ChiefsKingdom

Less than 24 hours later, "Dave" had been located and it turns out he is a homeless man who lives in his truck with his girlfriend and dog. 41 Action News was able to locate Dave Cochran and spoke with him about helping Allen out of the snow.

"(I) just pulled over," Cochran said. "I went to help him, then he told me he was a Chiefs player. I didn’t know he was a Chiefs player. I looked at him as a normal person and hoped he would do the same for me like I did for him."

Cochran explained that he did not expect anything in return and was just trying to help out people struggling to drive in the terrible conditions.

"That’s a natural habit for me is to help people," he said. "I don't expect anything in return. All I was expecting was a thank you."

Cochran said that he has never been to a Chiefs game before and told the news station that he became emotional after he found out Allen wanted to reward him for his act of kindness.

"It’s like a dream come true," Cochran said. "I saw the message this morning, and I am not going to fake with you, call me soft if you want to homeboys, I started bawling to know he is a man of his word and he reached out to contact me."
