Free agent point guard Chris Paul has agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, his Creative Arts Agency representatives Steve Heumann, Ty Sullivan and Jessica Holtz confirmed to ESPN's Shams Charania on Monday (July 21).
Paul, 40, opted to return to the Clippers as he views them as a contender, as well as his history with the franchise ahead of his 21st and expected final season, according to Charania.
"Twelve-time All-Star Chris Paul has agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, CAA's Steven Heumann, Ty Sullivan and Jessica Holtz told ESPN. Paul had multiple suitors, but chose the contending Clippers and their shared history in L.A. for his likely final, 21st NBA season," Charania wrote on his X account.
Paul spent six seasons with the Clippers, which tied his original team, the then-New Orleans Hornets, for his longest tenure with an NBA franchise and was responsible for the team's renaissance into a perennial contender in the 2010s. The former Wake Forest standout made six of his 12 All-Star Game appearances as a member of the Clippers, as well as three of his four All-NBA First Team, two of his five All-NBA Second team and one of his two All-NBA Third Team selections.
Paul has played for five NBA teams in the eight seasons since his departure from Los Angeles, which included one year with the San Antonio Spurs, averaging 8.8 points, 7.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds during the 2024-25 season.
