Matt Nagy is Scared of Going Through the Growing Pains with Justin Fields

On Thursday's "2 Pros and a Cup of Joe," Jonas Knox, Brady Quinn and LaVar Arrington believe Matt Nagy is acting out of self-preservation, but actually ruining his reputation by backing Andy Dalton over Justin Fields. Because he's struggled in Chicago and seemingly on the hot seat, he'd rather play it safe with the veteran QB than go through the growing pains with Justin Fields. All that should really matter right now is preparing Justin Fields to win football games and not the fear of a QB controversy.

Jonas Knox: "This is all about him trying to save his job. He feels that he can't survive growing pains with Justin Fields which is why he's so adamant about playing the veteran quarterback."
LaVar Arrington: "The sad thing about that commentary is sometimes you're so deep and so far into the forest that you can't see through the trees, and he doesn't even realize the damage that he's doing to his reputation by handling this the way he is. He probably feels as though he's giving Andy Dalton an opportunity and protecting Justin Fields from maybe the media, maybe from himself, whatever it may be. I think that in his mind, outside of the justification of self-preservation, he actually feels like he's doing the right thing and that's sad because it is way off."
Brady Quinn: "He's never had a losing season and that's the weird thing..."
