Jason Smith: “They’re (49ers) fine without him (McCaffrey) and it’s hard to hear because... he’s the best running back in the NFL. Yeah but this is also what happens when your roster is so loaded. You have the best roster in the NFL. This is why you went out and gave Brandon Aiyuk that money, it’s why you gave Trent Williams money, you have 8 guys or 6 guys making more than $15 million a year. It’s not going to happen next year but you have it for this year so you are ok without Christian McCaffrey for a few weeks at the beginning of September. It sucks that he’s out trust me he’s such a great player but trust me, the 49ers are absolutely fine without him.”
