College football is remembering the life of Lou Holtz, the Hall of Fame coach who led the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a national championship and built one of the most recognizable coaching careers in the sport. While many celebrate his success and motivational leadership, his legacy has also sparked debate because of controversial remarks he made later in life.
On a recent segment, Rob Parker discussed those contradictions alongside Keith McPherson. Parker said, “When I thought of Lou Holtz today, it wasn’t about him being a coach… it was the later stuff that really bothered me.” He also referenced Holtz describing immigrants as “an invasion of America,” questioning how someone who relied on diverse locker rooms could hold those views. “How does a guy who made a living working off the backs of Black athletes say stuff like that?” Parker said.
